It is something I have done for years, something I have always enjoyed. As a child my reading level far surpassed my peers. It was a very long plane ride on an exchange trip to Finland that made me pick up what I consider to be one of the worlds most definitive fantasy books. What really caught my eye was that it was about cats and the blurb said it was reminiscent of Watership Down. I was sold. From there I haunted bookstores looking for his works, waiting for the next one like a wolf stalking its prey...

Then Otherland came out. I was never a huge science fiction reader, but this looked more my style. Having just rcently gotten online and into the complex and fascinating online worlds of MUSHes and RPG's, I was fascinated..... AND Hooked.

That is when I became a "worshipper" of Tad and joined the Listserve which used to hosted by Penguin and is now independant, called Treehouse and is at yahoo groups. What another strange and unusual world, and one which preoccupied much time, with an average day consisting of 100 emails or so.

From this community, meetings occured, phone calls, good friendships and even relationships. We are known as a raucous bunch and have created several worlds in collective heads, there is tadhenge, the mythical but very real world we congregate in, and of course, due to a funny little story from years ago, we all hold the pineapple as our symbol. It is an eclectic group of people who may have never come together and formed the friendships, love and community if it were not for a fascinating and wonderful author named Tad.
